We Survived!

As you can see I am oh so happy with the mess.
Floor is gone!
It has been a while since I have posted. We recently had a remodel in our kitchen and bedroom due to a minor water leak that equaled major renovation. Removal of mold, replacement of wall boards, rebuilding cupboards, replacing floor.

The company who holds our homeowners insurance was spectacular. If you have a chance, give PEMCO a try. We have had them for over five years and this is our first claim. They were an absolute dream to work with and they made our lives bearable. They kept in contact with us throughout the whole ordeal and made sure we were reimbursed for any incidentals - like an entire month of eating out because we didn't have a kitchen!

The company they brought in to do the clean-up work from the water damage is called Zion Restorations. Also a spectacular company to work with. Paul was a great contractor and his workers put in 110% to make sure our house was only in an upheaval for about a month. As you can see much of the base floor had to be replaced in the kitchen and there was some hard, labor intensive work involved.
Everything 2 foot and down had to be replaced.
I appreciate those people who stay in their homes while it is being remodeled! That was super stressful. I can't imagine doing the work myself!

Of course now we have big dreams of redoing the family room and a couple of bathrooms.

New floor

Greg and I had the unique opportunity to pick out our own counter top and flooring. This was super fun and it has really made us feel like the house we bought all those years ago and now even more so ours because our personality is reflected in our choices. The people at Luke's Carpet in Kennewick were are a huge help.

The experience was fun since we had to pick out linoleum, stone back splash, counter tops, carpet, and flooring.
New floor & rebuilt cupboards
We are continuing with the unpacking, but at least there are not working running in and out of the house. The flies were atrocious! And one mouse got in and was hiding behind the entertainment center in the family room. But we checked the trap tonight and that sucker is dead! Bwhahahahah!
